President and Director of the Caltex Group
of Companies at New York is in charge of
the financial and fiscal matters of the Group.
In the highly capital intensive oil industry
finance plays a very important part and I
believe it should be recognized here and at
this moment how much Mr. Murdo Maclver
has contributed to the growth of the Caltex
operations in Holland, as the financial ar
rangements required for the building of a
refinery at Pemis as well as the expansion of
our fleet were made each time under the
inspiring guidance of Mr. Murdo Maclver.
Mr. President-Director of Wilton-Fijcnoord,
the launching of a vessel is for the ship
builder always a most important moment. It
marks the completion of building a what so
far was only a steel structure, which by Mrs.
Murdo Maclver's tactful but persuasive touch
took to the waters and thereby assumed its
real quality of being a vessel. It thereby
demonstrated the knowledge and the skill of
your Yard, the Management, your staff and
all your workmen.

strie speelt het kapitaal een zeer belangrijke
rol en ik geloof, dat hier en op dit moment
moet worden erkend hoeveel de heer Murdo
Maclver heeft bijgedragen tot de groei van
de Caltex bemoeienissen in Holland, daar de
financiële regelingen, vereist voor de bouw
van een raffinaderij te Pernis, alsook de uit
breiding van onze vloot, telkenmale werden
tot stand gebracht onder de inspirerende lei
ding van de heer Murdo Maclver.
Meneer de Directeur van Wilton-Fijenoord,
het tewaterlaten van een schip is voor de
scheepsbouwer altijd een zeer belangrijk mo
ment. Het markeert de voltooiing van de
bouw van wat tot dusverre slechts een staal-
structuur was, hetwelk door Mevrouw Murdo
Maclver's beleidvolle, doch overredende aan
raking het water heeft gekozen en daarbij
haar werkelijke eigenschap van een schip te
zijn, heeft aangenomen. Het heeft daarbij tot
uiting gebracht de kennis en het vakman
schap van Uw werf, de leiding, Uw staf en al
Uw medewerkers.
Namens onze maatschappij moge ik onze ge
